FAQs

Does the world really need another app?
Maybe just one more :) Behind Mozi's features is a strong point of view: We believe that all of life's greatest experiences, opportunities, and richness come through our relationships, and despite our ubiquitous digital connectivity, many people feel more disconnected from their fellow humans than ever. Social media started with the promise of global connection and turned into yet another form of ad-driven entertainment. We believe the problem is the premise. Mediated interaction gives the illusion of connection but does not lead to the kind of authentic, soul-enriching, human connection that we all desire. Sadly, many of us have become addicted to these pseudo-social experiences in lieu of the real thing.

So we asked ourselves: Is there a way to use the power of the connected devices in our pockets to actually deepen our connections and make us feel closer? Can we create more opportunity to turn acquaintances into friends? Can we increase the social serendipity that makes life more fun and rewarding?

We think so. And that's why we're building Mozi.
Who’s behind Mozi?
We are a small team based in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, San Diego, New York, Medellin, Dublin, Vienna, London, Poland and Puerto Escondido.

Between us, we’ve got 11 pets, have passports from ten countries, speak nine languages, have six scuba certifications (plus a PADI mermaid certification), two full DJ setups and one viral reality TV moment. If you want to connect, find us on LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter or email us (community@mozi.app).
Why do you need access to my contacts? Will you ever contact people in my phone book?
Never. We ask for access to your contacts so that you can see the people you already know on Mozi. In order to see someone on Mozi, you have to both be on Mozi and both have one another saved as iOS contacts. We never send, sell or share any of your information, and we will never contact your people on your behalf. And instead of storing any actual phone numbers, we hash (encrypt) them. This ensures both your number and all your contacts remain anonymized and protected.
How do you plan to monetize?
There will always be a free version of Mozi. And we will not put features that are free today behind a paywall in the future. We plan to be “Freemium” eventually, by introducing new, premium features that are available for a subscription. Similar to the business models of other apps we pay for and love, like Spotify, Hinge and VSCO. While we don’t intend to bring ads into Mozi, we’re open to exploring partnerships with brands that have opportunities for our community.
Mozi asks for personal info in profiles. What do you do with details like dietary preferences, birthdays, kid’s names?
At this moment, there are probably people who care about you that can’t remember those important details about you. All profile fields are optional, and if you choose to fill them out, those friends will be grateful. And wouldn’t you be glad to have that info on hand about all the important people in your life too?

Mozi encrypts and safely stores this data, then makes it visible only to the people you’re already connected to on Mozi. If you want to know who can see your details, check your “My People” page in the app.
Do you have an Android App?
Not yet. If you’re an Android user who wants to try Mozi, just add your info here and we’ll keep you posted.
How do I get in touch?
Email us (community@mozi.app) or send a DM on Instagram.
How can I give you feedback?
If you’d like to share feedback, simply send us an email at feedback@mozi.app or give your phone a shake while Mozi is open. The more details you include—like screenshots, device info, and clear descriptions—the better we can assist. We aim to respond within 2 business days, but this can vary.

Every piece of feedback helps us make Mozi better for you, and you’ll be notified of any updates via email.
Can I suggest new features for Mozi?
Absolutely! Email your ideas to feedback@mozi.app for potential inclusion in future updates.
